Abstract EN

This study aimed to know the extent of the development of the phenomenon of population aging in Algeria.

while highlighting the most important demographic, social and economic factors, that affected the increase in the phenomenon.

as the proportion of Algeria's population aged 60 years and over reached 9% in 2019 of the total population and is expected to reach 12% within the year 2050.

he study indicated that the population pyramid in Algeria has changed due to an increase in life expectancy and a decrease in fertility rates.

in addition to other factors such as an increase in the dependency ratio in the economy, which leads to an increase in the number of beneficiaries of retirement services with an increase in the cost of health services for this vulnerable group.
