The Tunisian legislator included several guarantees to enshrine the right of individuals to establish associations.

These guarantees differed according to the nature of the political orientation of the ruling regime, as the period following independence until the time before the revolution in 2011 was subjected to severe restrictions on the right to establish associations.

After the revolution, the right to establish associations witnessed a significant development compared to the previous period according to the constitutional, legal and judicial guarantees stated in the pre-revolution and after the period that they were subjected to.
