Of the many civilizations that have passed through and left their mark on Eurasia, the Bulgars are one of the most prominent.

the Bulgars embraced Islam approximately in the 4th century A.H.

and were one of the first peoples to aid in spreading the civilization of Islam from the south all the way to the north of Eurasia.

this article discusses their origins, the differences between them and the people currently living in modern day Bulgaria, their introduction to Islam and their history within it up until the collapse of the Bulgar state as well as the modern day ethnic groups that trace their origins back to the Bulgars.
