The spread of the new coronavirus, discovered in China in January 2020, led to a pandemic as early as March 2020, forcing every healthcare system in countries around the world to adapt quickly.
This virus causes a sometimes severe respiratory pathology.
The specific death rate from COVID-19 is variable.
While the overall rate is around 2.
3% to 14.
8%.
How could this new virus threaten global health security in such a short time? A question that intrigued scientists at the start of the pandemic and the general public to date, this paper seeks to answer it by addressing the following points: its biological characteristics; its methods of transmission; its period of increase; and the best medical diagnostic methods used to date to detect it.

La propagation du nouveau coronavirus, découvert en Chine en janvier 2020, a mené à une pandémie dès mars 2020, obligeant chaque système de soins des pays du monde à une adaptation rapide.
Ce virus provoque une pathologie respiratoire parfois sévère.
En effet, après l´Asie, l´Europe, les États-Unis et l´Iran sont les régions du monde les plus touchées.
Le taux de mortalité spécifique du COVID-19 est variable.
Alors que le taux global est d'environ 2, 3% à 14, 8%.
Comment ce nouveau virus pourrait-il menacer la sécurité sanitaire mondiale en si peu de temps? Question qui a intrigué les scientifiques au début de la pandémie et le grand public à ce jour, ce papier s'intéresse à y répondre en abordant les points suivants: ses caractéristiques biologiques; ses méthodes de transmission; sa période d'augmentation; et les meilleures méthodes de diagnostic médical utilisées à ce jour pour le détecter.
