Abstract EN

This research shed the light on crafts and industries in Oman and Bahrain through the books of Muslim geographers and travelers until the sixth century AH / thirteenth century A.D.

it dealt with some of the crafts that were flourishing, such as architectural crafts, as a result of the prosperity of architecture in Oman and Bahrain, including the building of houses and mosques, the research also examined the shipbuilding industry and the way Arabs were distinguished in its manufacture and robustness through the use of raw materials different from those used by the Europeans.

it equally dealt with the manufacture of ropes used in shipbuilding, in addition to bringing into light some other industries that were mentioned in the books of geographers and travelers.

finally, the study dealt with the commercial activity in that period, including the review of land and sea trade routes, ports, and the main imported and exported goods.
