Abstract EN

This study aims at investigating the role of Quranic schools in educating women, in the village of ghermiano, in the Algerian Sahara to know their role and the aim of their existence, particularly in these remote areas.

the study also explores the cultural, educational and social achievements of these Qur’anic schools for this category of the society.

in fact, they are for the benefit of the housewife’s category who showed their attachment to religious learning through these schools bearing a big challenge for change and reform of the mentality of the rural society, including values, customs and traditions, among which the general form of the societal relationships, which, for the past time, had been considered a sacred life style that cannot be changed.

however, the rapid technological growth brought changes resulting in a new style of social relationships in the rural society.

the starting point was from the old Qur’anic schools which opened their doors for women to form a religious awareness leading to a change in behaviour to reaching production through daily practices.
