This research paper seeks to make a comparison between grammarians and pragmatics portrayals of the function of linking tools.

the grammarians considered it an essential component of the sentence in its statement of meanings, and that the significance of a single letter changes with the change of context, and this leads to a difference in the meaning of speech, in addition to working to strengthen the links between the sequences of sentences in the text.

as for the pragmatics, they considered them as links that fulfill the argumentative function of language, contribute to the formation of the argumentative linguistic structure of the discourse, and direct speech toward a single result, making it easier for the addressee to understand, which results in the achievement of influence and persuasion.
