Abstract EN

This research entitled “cultural criticism and mechanisms of reading and interpretation” treats the problematic of cultural criticism as a contemporary critical theory produced by the “postmodern” or “post-structuralist” period.

the literary text reading in the light of cultural, political, social and moral standards, regardless of aesthetic and artistic standards, aims to reveal the systemic flaws in the culture and community institution, and to expose institutional discourses, and their methods of establishing hegemonic power, and to entrench the general taste patterns of societies.

but the question at this level is how can that be possible? what are the mechanisms of cultural criticism to extrapolate cultural patterns and to clarify their implicit methods and rhetoric? as long as cultural criticism does not treat the text as an aesthetic phenomenon, but rather as a cultural pattern that performs a cultural textual function that implies more than it declares.

and the question the research will attempt to answer it in a series of axes that monitor the mechanisms of cultural criticism between Western and Arab theory.
