Abstract EN

The study aims to analyze and measure financial sustainability through the effectiveness of fiscal policy in Algeria and the extent of application of the rules of financial discipline, by analyzing the symmetry relationship between expenditures and revenues.

to find out, and to estimate the relationship in the short and long term, we used an autoregressive lag-distributed lag (ARDL) model, in addition to the granger's long-run causality test to determine the nature and direction of the relationship between expenditures and revenues.

the results showed a weak financial sustainability in Algeria, and causal tests were not able to confirm the existence of a clear causality between expenditures and revenues in the long term as a result of revenues not keeping pace with the continuous increase in public expenditures.

the study presented a set of suggestions to activate the role of fiscal policy and the trend towards achieving long-term financial sustainability.
