Abstract EN

This research paper aims to try to know the effect of oil price fluctuations on foreign exchange reserves in the Algerian economy, and that by studying the relationship between fluctuations in oil prices and foreign exchange reserves during the study period, using self-regression beam model (VAR).

this study found a positive relationship between oil prices and foreign exchange reserves, that is, the higher the oil price, the greater the foreign exchange reserves, vice versa.

if this indicates anything, it indicates that the Algerian economy is primarily a rentier economy, in other words, there is an absolute dependency on the hydrocarbon sector.
