The post cold war era has been witnessed the emergence ofb new security threats, which touched the state on one hand and the individual in the other hand.

the traditional political borders could not coping with the danger of these new threats, the border has become the source of security tensions for various states, which might not contain new security dangers and explain them and provide means and capabilities to counter them this led to review the basic assumptions of security threats in global level from one side, and methods to face them from the other side, this led to sort out an argument about nature and meaning of security concept and the need of expanding it, numerous states today tend to invest significantly in security borders, in the context of what's called smart borders this paper will attempt to acknowledge the traditional and modern security concepts, the types of new security threats through shed light on the importance and the role of smart borders.
