Abstract EN

This study aims to shed light on the importance that Mohamed Dib gives the city's space in his work “Trilogy of the North”, which occupies a great importance in critical studies because these spaces have diversity on different levels.

He uses the specificities of these spaces to present imaginary cities whose names are of pivotal importance.

The novel the terraces of Orsol, through the imaginary cities of Orsol and Jarbahr, depicts the consequences of capitalism, and it symbolically expresses its criticism of the contemporary society.

It also shows the danger of the homogeneous culture that the whole world is calling for in the name of globalization.

Dib's writings fall within the new trend of fiction writing.

He uses an artistic form full of symbolism to achieve the supreme human goal.
