Abstract EN

The research attempts to examine the referral strategy of counter-violent language by investigating the harsh and aggressive linguistic features employed in the Yemeni newspaper “al-Sahwa” which was published in 2011 and explaining the importance of the word and the authority of the text’s language in influencing and persuading the audience.

Moreover, this study aims to highlight how the writer cautiously chooses his utterance to oppose the other and his crimes in an advanced language.

The method of this research relied on various approaches, including descriptive, analytical, inference and textual approaches as well as critical discourse analysis.

The study has revealed various findings.

Among of the most important findings are: The use of counter-violent language to denote the legitimacy of violence in language in defending oneself and forcing social and political conditions.

This study also revealed the presence of two textual types that embody the strategy of reference of the counter-violent language: The strategy of reference with cohesion and the strategy of coherence.

Furthermore, this research found the existence of violence practiced by the ruling regime headed by President “Saleh” at that time and the writer’s language countered it by exposing his power and asking his trial.
