National cohesion, when linked by bonds of religion, language, land, customs and traditions, is one of the most important components of a homeland.

Since the Islamic conquest, Libya has witnessed a number of transformations and changes, but the migration of Arab tribes into this land has been one of the most significant transformations.

It had a major role in shaping the Libyan society culturally and socially, and had a great impact on the formation of the Libyan identity and its relationship with other tribes which was an embodiment of national unity.

This research undertakes the role of these tribes in shaping the culture and customs of Libyan society, and their attitude towards other tribes through studying the migration of the Bani Salim tribe.

The research starts with the components of the Libyan society, then the migration of Bani Salim and their settlement in Cyrenaica and Tripoli, and the whereabouts of the Bani Salim clans.

That is followed by a study of the relationship that Bani Salim had with the Berbers in the economic, cultural, military and social aspects, and how the relations between Bani Salim and the Berbers affected the establishment of interdependence between them and the blending in the fabric of Libyan society.

Also looking at the most important factors that helped in strengthening the relationship between Bani Salim and the Berbers.

The researcher then concludes with a review of the most important results that she reached.
