Industrial property rights have emerged and evolved as national rights, in the sense that the right in question is acquired and recognized primarily within the territory and law of a particular State, and the objective is therefore to ensure the protection of industrial property in more than one country at a time when national laws on industrial property are beginning to appear incapable of preventing their imitation and protection in foreign markets.

The study found that there should be some kind of protection at the international level and that national industrial property laws should be approximated to each other, as international conventions have strengthened the protection of industrial property elements at national and state levels.
