This research studies The availability of water means prosperity and stability, and its scarcity means drought and famine.

Libya, which is in the north of the African continent, enters the dry areas, and groundwater is one of the most important water sources in it.

Since the beginning of the search for oil in the south in Libyan desert at the end of the fifties and the beginning of the sixties of the twentieth century, A huge stock of fresh groundwater was discovered.

At that time, Libya moved towards establishing agricultural projects near the sources of this fresh water, but because of the long distance between these projects and the places where the population is crowded in major cities in the north, the Libyan state saw the need to transfer water from the south to the north through a system of the huge tubes, this system is known as the "Great Man-Made River".
