Abstract EN

The study of social and cultural adaptation in human societies has found great interest.

Various theories and models have emerged, including the melting pot theory, the salad bowl theory, and the constructivist trend.

These theories attempt to explain the results of social and cultural processes in order to search for a social and cultural compatibility between immigrant groups and settled ones.

These studies began a long time ago in the United States of America, because they were affected by migrations and population movements.This study attempts to formulate the theory of social and cultural layers, which is different from the trends of those theories whose foundations were built on the basis of the duality of societies.

While this study builds on the multiplicity and overlapping of groups, which is a complex process, in order to build social and cultural layers, each of which represents a sub reference group whose members belongalso to other sub-groups, and that the individual moves from one layer to another.

These layers are built by the individuals, and it is a known and recognized plurality in society, and it does not raise problems.

Adaptation and acculturation between expatriate and immigrant groups is solved by building a new layer that brings them together and absorbs them.

This construction is accomplished by assimilating or exchanging social and cultural patterns and creating sub-cultural features that bring them together.

The study used a sample of the Sudanes immigrants in the lLibyan city of Maraj as a model for the study.
