Abstract EN

The nature of the settlement colonialism that France Adopted in Algeria since the promulgation of the July 22, 1834 ordinance prompted the general government to pursue a repressive economic policy in the country.

It created tools of oppression to plunder the property of Algerians, impoverish them and humiliate them with the various taxes that were used as an effective tool for this purpose.

Since the invasion of the country, Algerians have been subjected to two types of taxes: the traditional ones that were levied in different parts of the country before 1830, called "Arab taxes" by the ordinance of January 17, 1845, Ordinary taxes levied on goods and services.

Algerians were now subject to a system of double taxation, they pay their own taxes and the general taxes of the Europeans.
