Abstract EN

Two things are not mutually exclusive, the first: the necessity of paying attention to the Arabic rhetorical heritage, and the other: the importance of benefiting from modern linguistic studies; this is done for two reasons: keeping pace with the custom of scientific development to update the old rhetorical tools and to bring out the positive balance hidden in the Arab heritage on the one hand, and to avoid falling into a monolithic vision on the other hand.

from this point of view, this research attempts to extract the manifestations of argumentation in the moral improvements of Ibn al Nazim in his book (al-Misbah fi al-Ma’ani, al-Bayan and al-Badi’).

these improvements are: good statement, clarification, theological doctrine, clarification, completion, division, caution, supplementation, appendix, objection, exaggeration, repetition, digression, abstraction, branching, emphasizing praise with something similar to slander, reasoning, and sarcasm.

through this, it became clear that al Badi’, who was accused of being one of the reasons for the stagnation of rhetoric, is itself one of the reasons for its renaissance, because of the clear role of argumentation, and that argumentation can offer solutions to the many ramifications found in the Badi’i improvements under study, as these improvements can be divided according to function of argumentation into groups, bearing in mind that the goals of argumentation for a single enhancer can change from one context to another, and then this enhancer is transferred from one group to another.
