Abstract EN

The current study aimed to analyze the strategic hedging strategy in the foreign policy of small countries with application to the state of Kuwait, where the study analyzed the Kuwaiti strategic hedging behavior towards china and turkey, and its decision to form alliances with regional and international parties, and knowing Kuwait's motives for adopting this strategy.

the study seeks to answer its research main question and sub-questions by using two approaches: the first approach is the analytical approach to understand and analyze Kuwait's motives for adopting the hedging strategy.

the second is decision making approach to identify the pivotal role of the decision-maker (sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah) in shaping and defining the parameters of Kuwait's foreign policy.

the study reached several results, the most important of which is that the hedging strategy is one of the important paths to which Kuwait, as a small country, has resorted in its dealings with major and regional powers.

this strategy actually gives Kuwait many strategic advantages such as reducing the threats surrounding it, preserving its security and survival, as well as maintaining a degree of independence in its foreign policy and not undermining its sovereignty.
