Arabic Abstract

ان زيادة الوزن والسمنة اصبحت واحدة من أهم المشاكل المتعلقة بالصحة العامه في القرن الواحد والعشرين, وأصبحت في تزايد في البلدان النامية والمتقدمة.

تهدف هذه الدراسة الى تقييم مدى انتشار زيادة الوزن والسمنة وعواملها عند العاملين في جامعة مؤتة في محافظة الكرك جنوب الاردن اجريت الدراسة على 327 موظف ( 242 ) ذكر و ( 85 ) انثى, و قد صمم الاستبيان لهذا الغرض، تم تقييم العادات الغذائية للمشاركين بإستخدام الإستبيان لتكرار الغذاء بالإضافة الى استخدام مؤشر كتلة الجسم لتقييم زيادة الوزن و السمنة وايضا تم استخدام محيط الخصر لتقييم السمنة المركزية.

اظهرت النتائج ان انتشار زيادة الوزن والسمنة كانت %52% و 21.7% على التوالي.

حيث كانت نسبة انتشار زيادة الوزن عند الذكور ( 56.4% ) اعلى من الاناث ( 40% )، بينما انتشار السمنة كانت عند الاناث ( 52 ) اعلى من الذكور ( 21.7% )، في حين ان انتشار السمنة المركزية كانت عند النساء ( 67% ) اعلى من الذكور ( 31.8% ).

كما اظهرت النتائج ان حوالي ( 45.9% ) من المشاركين يتناولون الوجبات بانتظام، ( 28.8% ) يتناولون الوجبات السريعة و ( 57.5% ) يتناولون وجبة الإفطار, و قد كانت هناك فروق معنويه بين الذكور والإناث في بعض العادات الغذائية, وكانت هناك فروقات معنوية في تناول بعض الاصناف الغذائية و ممارسة الرياضة.

اعتمادا على النتائج التي تم الحصول عليها, تبين ان انتشار زيادة الوزن والسمنة واضح بين موظفي جامعة مؤتة حيث أن معدل انتشار زيادة الوزن كان أعلى بين الذكور مقارنة مع الإناث, لكن معدل انتشار السمنة كان اعلى بين الاناث مقارنة مع الذكور, اما السمنة المركزيه كانت اكثر انتشارا بين الإناث مقارنة مع الذكور.

كما ان هناك علاقة بين نمط الحياة ( النظام الغذائي و النشاط البدني ) مع السمنة..

English Abstract

Overweight and obesity have become one of the most public health problems in the 21st century.

The prevalence of overweight and obesity is rising at an alarming rate in both developing and developed countries.

This study was aimed to assess the prevalence of overweight and obesity and their causative factors for them among Mutah university staff in Alkarak governorate in the south of Jordan.

The study adopted the analytical descriptive approach to achieve its goals.

The sample of the study was 327 participants from Mutah University staff composed of 242 males and 85 females.

The questionnaire was developed for the purposes of this study.

Food habits of the participants were assessed by using the questionnaire for frequency of food items intake.

Body Mass Index (BMI) was used for the assessment of overweight and obesity.

Also, waist circumference (WC) was used to assess abdominal obesity.

The prevalence of overweight and obesity in the current study was 52.0% and 21.7%, respectively.

The percentage of prevalence overweight was higher in males (56.2%) than females (40%).

While the prevalence of obesity was higher in females (27.0%) than males (19.8%).

The prevalence of abdominal obesity was higher in females (67.0%) than males (31.8%).

About 45.9% of the participants take meals regularly, 28.8% eat fast food and 57.5% eat breakfast, there was a significant difference between males and females in food habits.

Also, there were significant differences between males and females in frequency food items intake of and in physical activity.

The prevalence overweight and obesity was clearly among staff Mutah University, whereas the prevalence overweight is more common in males and obesity is more common in females.

Also, the prevalent abdominal obesity is more common in females.

There were relationships between dietary intak and physical activity with obesity.
