Abstract EN

This study deals with the image of women in pre-Islamic poetry, by examining three basic models in this poetry: Antara Ibn Shadad, Imru' alQays, and alNabigha alzobiani.

the study aimed at showing the position of the poet towards women in society that placed women in a special position; it’s related to social traditions on the one hand, and popular beliefs on the other hand.

it followed the critical analytical method.

first section was based on the poetry of Antara bin Shadad, and in the second section, focused on the poetry of Imru’ alQays, and in the third section, focused on the poetry of alNabigha alzobiani.

the study found that the manifestation of women in the discourse of pre- Islamic poetry varied between an ideal image of a woman carrying fertility, and the pleasure in this environment.
