the Jamaâ el Fna square was classified as an oral heritage by UNESCO, which considered it an intangible oral heritage of humanity in 2001.

the square was famous for its folklore episodes presented by the most famous narrators of the story in morocco, and until the seventies of the last century, the square was full of many storytelling episodes that were accepted by thousands of Moroccans and tourists as well, and after that the episodes began to decrease little by little,, and the audience began to turn to other episodes, the most famous of which are the episodes of satirical acting, singing, music, dancing and acrobatics, which led to the disappearance of the storytellers from the scene permanently, and the reason for this is due to the state’s neglect of the storyteller, and the presence of noise in the arena, and the lack of support material for narrators by official institutions.
