Abstract EN

This Study deals with the of the ruler of Kuwait, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Subah, in supporting the British during the First World Sheikh War and its political, economic and social impact on the internal affairs in Kuwait.

Sheikh Mubarak Al-Subah played a prominent role in providing support to the British authorities during the First World War.

Before the British forces occupied the city of Basra, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah declared his absolute loyalty to the British authorities.

And after the Ottoman Empire entered the war and the British forces occupied the city of Basra, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah provided all forms of support (moral, logistical, military and material) to the British forces.

After the death of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Subah on November 28, 1915, his sons each of Sheikh Jabir and Sheikh Salim took over from the power.

Upon taking the power, they declared their loyalty and obedience to the orders of the British authorities and provided all forms of the support to the British forces during the occupation of the rest areas of Iraq.

The war and the position of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah, and after him, his two sons, Sheikh Jabir and Sheikh Salim, had political, economic and social repercussions and influences on the internal affairs of Kuwait.

This study relied on documents from the British archives, documents from eligibility archives, as well as other primary sources focusing on this important aspect of modern Kuwait history.
