The ministry of education and technical education in Egypt has taken a new approach to developing general secondary education by establishing and maximizing the benefit from the knowledge bank and electronic platforms, developing systems and procedures for evaluating learners based on question banks, evaluating different levels of knowledge,, using equivalent test images and electronic tests and the associated automatic correction of student responses e, xtracting the results.

this was accompanied by the application of open book tests, an idea that sparked widespread controversy in the educational community and society, most of whom are used to traditional tests.

which requires developing cognitive awareness of open book tests by shedding light on them in terms of: their concept, philosophy, goals, types, cognitive levels that measure them, questions, advantages, disadvantages, and the best appropriate strategies to perform them, the form of open book tests in the digital age, and the study is prepared.

the current study is a gesture of hope towards spreading the culture of open book tests, and a step towards the community and the educational community accepting this type of testing and marketing it within the system of developing the educational evaluation for learners adopted by the government.
