And for this, they worked to erase most of the Algerian monuments dating from the Islamic era in general and the ottoman era in particular, as result of which Algerian cities were subjected to demolition operations and of sabotage in their cultural, urban and historical facilities, and mosques were demolished and turned into churches and barracks, and streets were ravaged.
