After Britain and France announced their aggression against Egypt in1956, the Iraqi people stand by the Egyptian people through demonstrations and protests prevailed in all Iraqi cities since the first hours of thetripartite aggression.

In addition to this, Iraq announced the suspensionof working hours in universities, colleges and schools until further notice.

Although the Iraqi Government declared Martial rules at that time, the aggression against Egypt had its effective influence on redrawing the foreignand domestic policy of Iraq; especially Iraq has a strategic alliance withBritain.

On the other hand, the Iraqi government was careful not to provoke the public opinion against its policy and its ally (Britain), but this didnot prevent clerics, university professors, journalists, and most groups ofIraqi people to stand by the Egyptian people
