English Abstract

The study aimed at identifying the impact of the involvement of Jordanian youth in volunteer work to reduce extremism and terrorism from the perspective of the members of civil society institutions ( youth clubs ).

The study followed the social survey method for selecting the study sample ،where the study tool was distributed to ( 9840 ) young members of the youth clubs in the governorates of the southern region in Al-Karak ، Tafila ،Maan ،and Aqaba ، with a total of ( 35 ) youth club within the age group ( 18-30 ) years.

In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher developed a questionnaire for the study purposes which included a preliminary data of the respondents, including the variables ( age ،work ، nature, monthly income and place of residence ).

The second axis of the questionnaire included four main domains to measure the impact of youth involvement in volunteer work to reduce extremism and terrorism from the point of view of the members of civil society institutions ( youth clubs ).

In order to answer the study questions, means, standard deviation, measure of central tendency, Pearson correlation coefficient, frequencies, percentages and mono-variance analysis were used.

The study revealed that there is a statistically significant relationship between the impact of youth involvement in volunteering and reduction of extremism and terrorism.

The study recommended the necessity of promoting the culture of volunteerism starting from the family through school ،university and religious institutions in order to save the young people from the dangers of extremism and terrorism, in addition to helping the young people in facing the challenges and difficulties that prevent them from practicing the volunteer work, whether these difficulties are material or social, as well as emphasizing the role of society organizations, especially the religious ones in reducing the phenomenon of terrorism.
