Abstract EN
The countries that make up the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries constitute the largest oil power in history, and the elements of its strength and geopolitical weight seem more important than the elements of its weakness, and the forces that work against the organization work due to the fact of the ability and potential of the organization and its impact on international relations, so every member of the organization must avoid working for the sake of His independent interest, but he does what is best for the group as a whole, because the more independent action, the greater the fear of the independent action of others, and the greater the possibility of failure or collapse, so the fate of the organization depends mainly on the strength of external factors (consuming countries) and demand and supply (the market) uncontrolled, versus the strength of internal factors, which is the cohesion of the group.
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, is the major negotiating power in the field of the first strategic commodity, which is oil.
It represents the economic and political power of developing countries in conditions of peace and war.
Since its inception in 1960, the organization has played a pivotal role in meeting the world's oil needs of energy, as it has oil reserves that constitute 79.4% of the world's reserves, and 41.9% of global oil production.
The study aims to reveal the geopolitical weight of OPEC as a force that competes with the might of the international oil monopoly companies, for the purpose of paving the way for national sovereignty over this depleted wealth and thus turning the page on oil concessions in which there was a lot of oil exploitation and compromising the sovereignty of oil-producing countries, and then highlighting the strategic role of the organization's oil OPEC in global energy security.
