The research focuses on the geomorphological risks of the land slopes that the Erbil governorate is exposed to, in the northeastern part of Iraq, As it occupies an area (14, 505 km2) Geological formations are exposed in the research area, whose ages extend from the Triassic period to the Miocene, as well as sediments date back to the Quaternary era.
Through the research, the natural geographical features of the research area are identified and represented by geological formations; climate and soil, The geological structure and associated rock diversity have an effect on the variation in response to weathering, erosion factors and their effect on the formation of ground shapes.
It appears that the climate, soil and vegetation cover have so great a role in shaping the land features in the search area
