Abstract EN

Competition is an innate motivator to do a work and compete with others to gain the resulting good.

The best of all works, however, is to seek knowledge and communicate it.

But competition often takes a different direction that may lead to negative effects, in which case the desired good is not achieved, especially when learning and education become part of people’s worldly interests and individual needs.

Therefore, research in this area is required to direct competition to its legitimate goals by determining the extent to which it is its legitimate and the matters that affect its legal ruling, and clarifying its ethics, so as to meet individual and social needs as prescribed by the provisions of Islamic Sharia.

The research concluded that scientific competition is legitimate and required, and that it may be subject to various mandate provisions based on the condition of the competitors as well as the subject of the competition, its quality and the resulting effect.

Besides, the competitors must comply with ethics, by recommending competition seekers, learning and teaching completion, as well as taking into account the interests of others, by deriving the good and warding off the evil.

The study therefore recommends activating scientific competition in educational centers and including a course on the ethics of learning and teaching it.
