Abstract EN

Because of the increase in the number of abortions which reaches 55 million every year, and the disparity of views in a great number of conferences and meetings about this subject, it becomes necessary to know the accurate and precise opinion of religion on this important old and contemporary issue.

This research stems from a basic idea of Islamic jurisprudence that is meant to correct the human behavior in this era.

In this research, I explain the definition of abortion and the fetus in language, medicine, law and sharia, in addition to drawing on the issue of the dispute in the ruling on abortion and the consensus of the jurists on the sanctity of abstaining from it after the blowing of the soul.

I have examined the ruling on aborting in the jurists’ opinions and found out that for some of them abortion is forbidden before blowing the soul, when the sperm is attached to the uterus, after forty days, or after the appearance of the human image or some of its organs.

For other jurists, abortion is permitted before 120 days.

They consider that the bowling of the soul occurs after that time and that abortion is allowed if it is necessary.
