Abstract EN

Some Syrian sculptures dating back to the ninth and eighth centuries BC were distinguished from classical Syrian Style.

It imitates the Assyrian style, especially in carving the figures of kings.

Syrian Northern kingdoms lived a long history of conflict with the Neo-Assyrian state, which was reflected in sculpture.

There is no doubt that some sculptures of North Syrian art were used to express some political aims during this period.

The Assyrian feature in sculpture was intended by Syrian rulers and princes for certain political ends.

This current research is concerned with studying some examples of these sculptures and illustrating the artistic features of these sculptures.

The analysis of artistic scenes on these sculptures (as well as the texts carved on them) allowed some of these political purposes to be highlighted.
