Abstract EN

The Poetic image is one of the essential elements in the creation of poetic meaning together with the poetic language and rhythm.

The poetic meaning transgresses the verbal meaning known in the normal language which aims at stating and notifying towards another semantic structure which is idiomatically called the "second meaning" or the "meaning of meaning" and it reveals the properties of the poetic power concerning function, illustration and connotation together.

Three poems for three outstanding poets are selected for this paper; they belong to different generations of Arabic poetry, namely the pioneering poet Abdul-Wahab Al-Bayati, the Egyptian poet of the 1960's generation Amal Danqal and the poetess Bushra Al-Bustani who belongs to another generation, later than Amal Danqal.

We attempt an analysis of their poems according to the title and its open spaces to wide horizons
