Abstract EN

The research aimed to identify the prevailing thinking styles and the level of moral reasoning among master's students in the Faculty of Education at the University of Damascus, and identify the relationship between the thinking styles and level of moral thinking.The research adoptedon the descriptive analytical approach.

To achieve the aims the research used a list of thinking styles, that prepared by (Sternberg and Wagner, 1992)“short version”, in addition to (MRQ) moral Reasoning Questionnaire, that developed by (White et al, 2001), which was used to measure the level of moral reasoning in light of Kohlberg's theory.

The sample of the research consisted of (62) students from Master's students in Faculty of Education at Damascus University.The results showed: The most common style used by the sample of the research was the hierarchic thinking style, followed by the legislative thinking style, while the conservation thinking style was the lowest thinking style used by them.

The level of moral reasoning of the sample of the research was located between the third moral stage(the mutual expectations) and the sixth moral stage (the humanitarian principles), as the results showed that the category modal was the fifth moral stage (the social contract and individual rights)that achieved a percentage of (35.48%) from the members of the sample.

There was a positive correlation relationship between some thinking styles and some stage of moral thinking.

The research presented an explanation of the results as well as some suggestions that may benefit those in charge of the educational process.
