The great scientific and technological development taking place in our time has had its impact on the criminal rules by introducing new rules and means to serve criminal justice.

The video conference technology is one of the direct means of remote criminal investigation and trial procedures.

It is considered a departure from the tradition in the field of Criminal Procedures towards an easier practice that saves effort and time.

Its application entails the extension of the geographical scope of sessions in which the principle of confrontation between the parties to the lawsuit is achieved without the need for their actual presence in one place.

Therefore, some people refer to this means as “technological or electronic sessions”, through which this technology can transfer all the activities and procedures of the trial between two or more places.

In this way, the court can monitor the accused, his reactions, and his features during his testimony, and the accused can be familiar with and take note of all the trial procedures taken in his confrontation.
