تداعيات جائحة فيروس كورونا "كوفيد-19" على القطاع المصرفي و آثارها على الاقتصاد السعودي : دراسة تحليلية

Abstract EN

The research aims to demonstrate the impact of the Corona pandemic “Covid-19” on the results of the work of Saudi banks during the year 2020.

The descriptive approach was adopted when explaining the direct effects of this pandemic, and the analytical approach when exposed to the financial centers of Saudi banks, to analyze the impact of the repercussions of the pandemic on them.

Secondary data was collected from its sources represented in the examination reports of the independent auditors of these banks and the reports issued by the Saudi Central Bank, the Saudi Capital Market Authority, and the Arqam website, and then the data was analyzed by descriptive statistical methods represented by tables and percentages.

The research concluded a number of results and recommendations, perhaps the most important of which is the decrease in the net profits of Saudi banks and the net income from various operations during the year 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year, while the provision for credit losses increased due to the negative repercussions of the pandemic on these banks.

The state, in light of these exceptional circumstances, must provide additional policies and procedures that would support the ability of banks to confront this global pandemic, whose repercussions may continue for a period of time not short, and also to support the ability of banks to compete with foreign banks and support their presence in the global banking markets.
