Abstract EN

This research addresses mediation for the settlement of disputes related to drawing and industrial design within the context of private international relations.

The aim of the research is to discuss the legal framework governing alternative methods of dispute settlement in the United Arab Emirates with a view to identifying the gaps and establishing a legal framework.

It is meant to help the Emirati legislator to regulate mediation, as the United Arab Emirates legislation lacks provision for this friendly dispute resolution method.

Several results were reached; to start with, there is no legislation that tackles mediation in the United Arab Emirates.

Furthermore, there is an absence of provisions in the Emirati legislation (except for what is stated in the Labor Law) that talk about mediation for the settlement of disputes.

Accordingly, it is concluded that the Emirati legislator should work on regulating mediation, as it is a useful and important means for settling disputes.
