Abstract EN

The Manakhour battle is one of the most important events happened in the holy cityof Karbala during the Ottoman rule of Iraq.

It was an integral part of the events that tookplace in the history of Iraq.

Twenty-five years after the Wahhabi invasion and blasphemyof the city, some important events took place in which the people of Karbala showedgreat courage and strongly rejected the arbitrary policy imposed by "Dawood Pasha, "the Mamluk governor of Iraq at that time, who wanted to exploit the conditions that thecentral government in Istanbul was suffering from in order to rule Iraq independentlyand to announce its separation from the Ottoman Empire.

On the other hand, thecity refused to be part of a central government and called for its own autonomy bydisobeying the orders issued by the supreme authority in Baghdad which consideredKarbala one of the municipalities of Baghdad.

Those unfair policies followed by theGovernor Dawoodd Pasha were the influential factors that led the people of the city torevolt against the Mamaleeks, the representatives of the Ottoman government, and tobreakout the confrontation.
