Abstract EN

Lottery is considered one of the oldest ways that had been invented by ancient Iraqis.

They adopted such way so as not to favor any of those who are equals, heart-ease, make problems when dividing the legacy of properties and goods.

In addition, they implemented it when dividing and ordering positions of state employees.

Further, it has been used in games as a way of entertainment in various ways such as darts, dice, and so forth.

The essence of using lottery in various forms is due to the beliefs of the ancient Iraqis which is considered a divine authorization set by division and its estimation.

Perhaps it was and still representing the best method of acquiring knowledge to take out grudge and hatred that may arise among people without favoring anyone.

This study is based on the availability of information through the content of cuneiform texts and discovered archaeological evidence related to this study.
