The aims of this research is to identifying the impact of teaching optics, by using virtual laboratory and multimedia, on the visual thinking skills of fourth scientific grade students.

The sample comprised two groups of fourth scientific grade students for the academic year (2017 - 2018) A.

D the second semester.

This sample was chosen intentially from (Abd Al-Rahman Al-Ghafiki preparatory school for boys) from the research community in the left side of Mosul city.

One of the two grope was chosen randomly as an experimental sample of (41) students who were taught by using virtual laboratory and multimedia.

That group is taught in a computer laboratory in the school after installing the computers by definite programs needed to apply the experiment and the designated lessons by multimedia and virtual laboratory (Crocodile Physics 605) with the necessary activities and experiences.

The second grope was nominated as a control sample of (39) students and was taught by using traditional method, the teaching was taken place in the classroom and by using available teaching means.

The two groups were equivalent in: intelligence total score, physics score, general means for previous academic year and age (in months).

One of the researchers himself taught optics for two groups in regards to the teaching plans prepared previously for this purpose.

To achieve the aim of the research and testing its hypotheses, the two researches prepared visual thinking skills multiple choice test of (21) items of three alternatives.

The test was prepared by the two researcher after choosing (7) visual thinking skills.

to show its suitability to the definite subject and student age.

Each skills in that consisted of (3) questions after reviewing some visual thinking skills test in the previous studies.

The two researchers test the validity, reliability and psychometric features such as discriminability.

The reliability coefficient reached (0.81) by using (KR-20) formula.

The experiment started at the beginning of the second semester for the academic year (2017-2018) A.

D on Sunday (11/3/2018) after preparing computer laboratory.

It lasted till the end of the semester on Tuesday (8/5/2018).

Hence the experiment lasted for (9) weeks.

The visual thinking skills test have been applied upon the sample on Sunday (6/5/2018).

Then the two researchers correct the sheets of the test and collected data.

The data had been analyzed by using t-test for two independent samples at level of significance (0.05), also measure the impact by using Eta square (ᶯ2).

The results were as follow: 1 - There is statistical significant difference between the mean score in the visual thinking skills test of students, at the experimental group who learned optics by using virtual laboratory and multimedia and the mean score of students at the control group, who learned optics by using traditional methods, and for the benefit of the experimental group which scored the highest mean score.

According to those results, the two researchers gave number of conclusions, recommendations and suggestions.
