The objective of current study was to investigate the effectiveness of a counseling program based on individual psychology to develop social responsibility, social interest, and among The University of Jordan students.

To achieve the objectives of the study, a semi-experimental method of the quantitative type was used, and a non-probability sample was chosen using the intention method consisting of 30 first year students who study counseling and psychological mental health and special education were chosen to achieve the study objectives based on their score on the study scales.

Participants were randomly distributed into two groups: an experimental group included 15 students who received the counseling program based on individual psychology consisted of 13 sessions with an average of about 60-90 minutes.

Whereas, the participants in the control group included 15 participants did not receive any training course.

Students of both groups were tested using social responsibility, social interest, before and after the counseling program was applied.

The follow-up measurement of the experimental group was taken after the month of the counseling program.

The results of this study showed a statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the post-measurement in the total score of social responsibility scale for the experimental group.

Moreover, the study showed that there a statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the post-measurement in the total score of the social interest scale for the experimental group.

Thus confirming the effectiveness of the counseling program.

The study showed that there were no statistically significant differences for the experimental group between the post and follow-up measurements in the total score of social responsibility, social interest scales and their domains.

Thus confirming the continuous effectiveness of the counseling program.

The researcher recommends preparing more counseling programs based on other counseling theories such as: realistic treatment in order to work on developing social responsibility and social interest and investigating their effectiveness in future studies.
