Abstract EN

Although , semiotics is no longer a new science of the sciences of the tongue, as many sciences appeared after it such as textuality and others, but it is still far from the understanding of many researchers and their studies.

The Iraqi universities were not specifically concerned with this science, and the study of semiology was not considered as an independent subject in higher studies, it was not a primary target for students of master and doctoral studies as they choose titles for their research (theses and dissertations).

If any specialist pays any attention to study the semantics , semiotics will be last priority .

But in fact , this science is the origin and the semantics is a branch of it, as will be seen in this research, which attempts to answer about who founded this science and its importance, about the reason for the name and its origin in the ancient linguistic lesson, and about the relationship between it and semantics.
