Abstract EN

This research deals with the subject of lamentations in the poetry of al Khansa, and it examines the connotations of those words in which the implications of the purpose of lamentation, which were referred to by ancient and modern critics of poetry, were indicated.

These words, and their classification in statistical tables arranged in alphabetical order, were included in two circles representing the main two sides of lamentation : the circle (sadness) which represents the lament / poet, in which we studied the words of calamity, death, worry, pain, and crying, And the second circle (the memorial) representing the elegy, including the characteristics of praising the dead, such as sovereignty, honor, courage, generosity, and moral qualities.

The elegiac texts, and then studying the semantic relationships emerging between them, and their relationship to the general topic by revealing their emotional, social, and cultural contents, the research ends with a conclusion showing their suitability for the poetic purpose
