The old Scottish Parliament was the most important institution in medieval and early modern Scotland, by which the people's representatives were brought together through estates representing their territorial districts.

The Scottish Parliament prior to 1707 was a great model that represents life of Scottish and its various affairs.

It exercised a judicial function with legislation to maintain law and order.

The Parliament dealt also with the issue of taxes, control of economic policy, and foreign trade.

As a result of the English navigation laws for the years 1660-1663, Scotland went through difficult economic conditions and critical financial circumstances.

What follows is that the Anglo-Scottish Union had priority issue at that time on the agenda of the Scottish Parliament.

in light of the foresaid, this research endeavours to deal with the most important discussions Which took place in the Scottish Parliament and the negotiating committees that were formed between the kingdoms of Scotland and England regarding the union between the both Kingdoms and the role that was played by the representative of King Lauderdale regarding the failure of the union between Scotland and England.
