English Abstract

This study aimed to identify the degree of practicing visionary leadership among heads of academic departments in Jordanian private universities and its relation to activate research teams from the point of view of faculty members.

To achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher used the descriptive correlational approach.

Two questionnaires were developed: the visionary leadership questionnaire and the activating research team’s questionnaire, and their validity and reliability were verified.

The sample of the study is chosen by simple random sampling.

It consisted of (342) faculty members from Jordanian private universities.

The results of the study indicated that the degree of practicing visionary leadership among the heads of academic departments in the private Jordanian universities was of a high degree.

The degree of their activation research teams from faculty members’ point of view was medium.

Furthermore, there was a positive correlation relationship with statistical significance between the degree of practicing the visionary leadership of the academic department heads and the degree of their activation of the research teams in the private Jordanian universities from the point of view of the faculty members.

The study’s recommendations: strengthen the visionary leadership of academic leaders in the Jordanian private universities to serve higher education institutions and society, draw the attention of academic leaders of the importance of activating the research team and setting up the legislations which organize their work.
