This paper seeks to illuminate the religious and intellectual transmitted in the characters of the “Spartan Diwan” novel and what each character tries to defend and explain through presenting religious ideas and events that occurred during the French colonization, and the Ottoman-Algerian resistance.

we decipher, from the text, three kinds of characters : who showed loyalty to the Ottomans, to the guarded, and to the Christian empire.

this will more likely a link between the narrative process and the religious conflict between Islam as a system of government, and Christianity as a new service to the guarded, as it tries to blur Islamic intellectual features and structures.

finally, the text brings us to the idea of human coexistence between the French and Algerians under one banner of the intellect San Simone through the character of Thomas Ismail.
