Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the orientations of the Party for Justice and Development and the changes induced by its coming to power in 2002 in Turkey's foreign policy in both form and substance, focusing on the contexts and principles that founded this tendency (variable independence) and its repercussions on its behaviour and foreign relations, especially with Arab countries (dependent variable ).

In the analysis, we relied on the realist theory that emphasises the concept of power and interest and the interconnected relationship between them as a basic determinant in formulating the countries' foreign policy orientations, as it explains many of the behaviours that characterised Turkey's foreign policy after the year 2002.

The study concluded that the significant transformations in Turkey's foreign policy towards the Arab countries were part of a comprehensive approach adopted by the Justice and Development Party, in terms of thought and practice, as well as mechanisms and tools
