Abstract EN

The research aimed to identify the degree of Bedouin women's tendency towards developing crafts and handicraft activities in the research area, and to determine the relationship between this degree and their studied independent variables, as well as to determine the proportions of the contribution of some of them related to explaining the total variance of the change in the degree of this tendency.

this research was conducted in Ras Sidr center in south Sinai governorate, due to the availability of the elements of handicraft activities, on a regular random sample of 135 respondents representing about 10% of the total research comprehensive, which numbered 1,347 Bedouin women, who their data were collected during the months of February and march 2022 through a questionnaire with the personal interview which was prepared, initially tested and included a measure of the respondents' tendency towards developing handicraft activities in the research area, which has the conditions that must be met in the measuring tool in terms of honesty and stability.

hence, Pearson's simple correlation coefficient and ascending multiple regression model were used in its analysis, in addition to the tabular display with frequency and percentages.

the results of the research revealed the following: a percentage of (48.9%) of the total respondents have loyal tendencies towards the development of crafts and handicraft activities in the research area, as well (29.6%) of them have a neutral tendency, while (21.5%) of them have unfavorable tendencies towards this direction.

the existing of a significant correlation at the probabilistic level of 0.01 between the degree of respondents’ tendency towards developing crafts and handicrafts activities in the research area and each of their following independent variables: duration of experience in carrying out craft activities, monthly income, degree of cultural openness, degree of willingness to change, and degree of economic values, and degree of social values, as well at a level of significance of 0.05 with each of the following independent variables: age, degree of formal social participation, degree of voluntary social participation, degree of exposure to information sources, and degree of tendency towards innovations.

the percentage of the contribution of seven of the variables with a combined relationship has showed the interpretation of the total variance of the change in the degree of the respondents’ tendency towards developing crafts and handicrafts activities (67.4%), of which (27.9%) are attributed to the variable duration of experience in doing crafts activities, and (18.3%) are attributable to a variable to the degree of readiness for change, (11.9%) are due to the variable degree of economic values, (4.0%) are due to the variable of monthly income, (2.8%) are attributed to the degree of social values variable, addition to (1.9%) are attributed to the variable degree of cultural openness, and (0.6%) are attributed to the variable degree of formal social participation.
