Abstract EN

This study aims to measure the impact of the YouTube channel known as "Moshaya family program" on Saudi children.

in particular, this study questions how Saudi children are affected by the channel in terms of the comparison of the lifestyle provided and requesting to buy the products exposed in the channel.

methodologically, this study used quantitative in which questionnaire were used to collect data from 338 mothers of whom their children view the YouTube channel.

results found that most children are aware of the terms such as subscribe, share, like, views, and the reason for this is because they are affected by the idea of popularity and their desire to make their own YouTube channels.

also, results indicated that children prefer the content of pranks that are shown in the channel as the children describe them as fun, which leads them to imitate these pranks in their real life which lead to another result shown that most mothers do not prefer that their children watch this program as it inflames the child to make pranks and encourage children to buy products.

the role of the new media platforms, specifically YouTube, emphasizes the values acquired by the child as not only for entertainment, but also a tool for learning, communication and entertainment.
